Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and similar activities to communicate these objectives to students. Employ instructional methods and materials that are most suitable for achieving the stated objectives. Assess the accomplishments of the students regularly and provide progress reports as required. Diagnose the learning disabilities of students regularly, seeking the assistance of the district specialist as required. Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner. Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Responsible for the students’ safety Performs reasonable professional tasks or duties as may be requested by the Principal.

Required Qualifications:

RIDE certification in Early Childhood Special Education

RIDE ESL

Certification or the qualifications for an emergency certification Must have or been able to complete the Right to Read Proficiency certificate Strong experience working with students with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges Employer Research Help for Employer Information. .
