Position Summary :
Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School seeks a joyful, intellectually motivated 4th Grade teacher to lead our students in the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and virtue. Successful SGGCS teachers develop classroom cultures marked by faith -centered values, curiosity, creativity, kindness, collaboration, and wonder at all God has made. Candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree and certification in education. Applicants should be prepared to support the values of the Catholic Church and their lives should bear active witness to a deep love for our Lord Jesus Christ. SGGCS is accredited and has a rich tradition of providing excellent education to both Catholic and non-Catholic students. New teacher orientation begins on August 4th. Reports to :
Principal Classification :
Full-Time Essential Job Functions Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school. Plan and effectively deliver grade-appropriate, engaging lessons. Manage children to ensure a safe and encouraging atmosphere for learning. Work collaboratively with other staff members, including administrators. Provide support to students in their academic development and keep open communication with parents/guardians to reach goals for students. Support and adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese. Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters. Integrate technology in a one-to-one classroom environment. Develop students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills and employ a variety of instructional strategies to ensure that all students are challenged to progress toward mastery of complex concepts. Present knowledge of subject matter and grade level learning standards. Prepare assignments, assessments, and projects with grading rubrics to fairly support student growth and success. Ensure appropriate resources and consultation times are available to students. Maintain student records.
Organize community involvement and appropriate field trips following school and diocesan policies. Attend staff and parent meetings, conferences, workshops, and assigned school events. Ensure a safe, healthy classroom environment where learning can take place. Position Qualifications A bachelor’s degree is required. Teaching certification or progress towards certification required. Candidate is prepared to uphold Christian values and be able to lead through example while working collaboratively in a Catholic faith-based environment. Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students and • Ability to work collaboratively in a Catholic faith-based environment. Successful completion of a clear background check and safe environment professional development. Proficiency in office software such as Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace. First Aid / CPR certification (certification opportunities can be provided)
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements :
The requirements described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, and telephones. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook and Excel and Google Workspace tools. This position involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above shoulders. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds to transport classroom material and equipment.
