Job Description
John Sevier Elementary is seeking a 2nd grade-teaching candidate.
This is a full-time position with benefits for the 2025-2026 school year.

Certification:

Current K-6 Tennessee Department of Education certification with proof of highly qualified status and related work experience.

Expectations:

Willingness to participate in a multi-step interview process.
Qualities of a

Ability to work collaboratively within a team
Desire to build positive relationships with students and their families
Complete understanding of K-3 State of Tennessee Curriculum
Comfortable in using data resources such as iReady, Aimsweb, Scholastic, STAR Reading, etc. and the ability to share results with appropriate stakeholders
Ability to use data to drive instruction
Possess confidence in integrating technology into instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with all stakeholders
Understanding of student learning styles, age-appropriate instructional strategies, and educational best practices
A strong desire to build meaningful relationships with students and their families, promoting a sense of belonging.
Desire to organize, participate and attend after-school and evening programs such as performances, parent meetings, and other school events
Approach to using both formative and summative assessment data to drive instruction
Exemplify honesty, integrity, loyalty, humor, and professionalism in all interactions.

Physical Requirements:

All applicants must be able to perform any physical duties associated with this position (e.g., lifting 50 pounds regularly, sitting for extended periods, walking, seeing, standing for extended periods, etc.).
