Elementary Teacher-6th Grade 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 214 Pulaski Street, Newbury, VT 05051 Newbury Elementary School is seeking a 6th grade classroom teacher. The average homeroom size of 15 allows for flexible groupings and project-based learning. Teachers work together to implement instruction through the use of Illustrative Mathematics, Heggerty Bridge to Reading, Handwriting Without Tears, Heggerty Phonics and Guided Reading programs.
Outdoor education and community based learning experiences are key components of our educational programming. Each week students take advantage of learning in our eleven acre forest school classroom. Area farms invite our students to learn and explore throughout the school year. We are proud to incorporate Project Wild, Trout in the Classroom and onsite composting & gardening into our instructional experiences for students.
New teachers can expect a mentor with weekly meetings for the first year and into the second year if needed. In addition to mentoring, outside consultants work with teachers on self designed support. Newbury is able to also offer in house coaching in both math, literacy and behavior management. New teachers to NES are well supported for success.
