Job Summary/Basic Function The Department of Aerospace at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a coordinator-track faculty position (#101050) at the rank of instructor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory aerospace courses and other courses related to their experience or certification, undertake a limited amount of collaborative research within the department, and be actively involved in university and professional service. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to lead the department’s initiatives in student wellness and mental health awareness. The successful candidate will be required to teach classes in traditional on-campus classrooms, online, and off-campus locations. Required Education A master’s degree in aerospace, aviation, management, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace, aviation, management, or a closely related field with the required experience listed below will be considered in lieu of a master’s degree. Required Related Experience Applicants with a master’s degree in aerospace, aviation, management, or a closely related field are required to have three (3) years of full-time aerospace industry or military aviation work experience, or one (1) year of certified flight instructor (CFI) experience by the appointment date. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace, aviation, management, or a closely related field are required to have five (5) years of full-time aerospace industry or military aviation work experience, or two (2) years of certified flight instructor (CFI) experience by the appointment date. Required License/Registration/Certification FAA Certified Flight Instructor ratings are required. Other Desirables Applicants with collegiate teaching experience or experience coordinating or managing mental health wellness programs, or other student communication and outreach initiatives, will receive special consideration.
