QUALIFICATIONS

1. Applicant must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary Education. 2. Certified as Teacher of English as a Second Language. 3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptable. 4. Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate. 5. Ability to travel between schools daily, as needed. 6. Provide own or have access to appropriate transportation to meet job requirements. 7. A bilingual/bicultural experience, preferred.

School Principal and Federal Programs Director SALARY:

To be determined commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: Provides evaluation and testing for non-English speaking and limited proficiency students. Provides assessment for newly arriving non-English speaking students. Confers with classroom teachers regarding each student’s program. Provides support and resource information to ESL tutors and classroom teachers. Assists in project implementation. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and the times designated. Creates and maintains a classroom environment, within the limits of the resources provided by the district that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and to communicate these objectives to students. Employs instructional methods and material that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, prepares for classes, and maintains written evidence of preparation. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports and counseling to parents as required concerning academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Continues personal professional growth and upgrading of skills appropriate to teaching assignments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is performed while standing or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a standard office environment and come in direct contact with PCBOE central staff, district staff, and the public.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
