Position Summary:
The Department of English, Philosophy, and World Languages at Arkansas State University seeks to hire a temporary instructor of English to begin in Fall 2025, for the 2025-2026 academic year. Teaching assignments will typically include general education courses such as Composition I and II. This is a non-renewable one-year appointment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaching load is 5 courses per semester.
Other duties include attendance at occasional departmental meetings and events
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required or applicable to the position responsibilities and area of specialization including special abilities.
General Days/Hours:
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:
An M.A. or MFA appropriate to the discipline with at least 18 hours of graduate study in English; a Ph.D. or ABD status would be an advantage Interest and/or experience working with ESL students.
