Job Description:
Enfield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a love of literature and language in students, while promoting critical thinking and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that aligns with state standards and district goals.
Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate best instructional practices, including differentiated instruction, collaborative learning, and technology integration.
Teach various aspects of English language arts, including literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary.
Foster a classroom environment that is welcoming, respectful, and supportive of all students, promoting equity and inclusion.
Assess and evaluate students’ progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
Encourage students to think critically and express themselves effectively through written and oral communication.
Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student learning and create opportunities for students to showcase their work.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in English education.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
Valid Connecticut teaching certification in English.
Experience teaching English at the high school level.
Strong knowledge of adolescent development and instructional strategies for secondary education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
