Teaching Full Job Description Job Description:

Spring River School, a Waldorf-inspired homeschool enrichment program, is seeking a part-time High School English Instructor to lead students in grades 9-12 through a literature-rich, developmentally aligned English curriculum. Class sizes less than 10 students. This is a 1099 contractor role ideal for a passionate educator who values whole-child education, relationship-based learning, and creative academic engagement. In addition to teaching literature, writing, and language arts, the instructor will help prepare upper-grade students (grades 11-12) for the ACT exam , with a focus on reading comprehension, grammar, and essay writing. Classes are held indoors in a nurturing church space, with occasional field days for experiential learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver English instruction rooted in Waldorf principles Guide students in literature, writing, and language arts (grades 9-12) Prepare older students for the ACT reading and writing sections Create a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment Communicate with students and families as needed Collaborate with high school team and program leadership

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Education, or related field Experience teaching or tutoring high school students Familiarity with ACT exam content and preparation Interest in or openness to Waldorf educational philosophy Reliable, organized, and comfortable working as an independent contractor
