KEY ATTRIBUTES

We are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and nurturing Middle School ELA Teacher to serve our 5th and 6th grade students. The ideal candidate has a love for the middle school years, strong expertise in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis, and a demonstrated ability to connect with young adolescents as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally. This faculty member will serve as a Capstone Leader for our 6th grade students, helping to organize, guide, and celebrate their culminating experiences. This position includes planning and executing meaningful milestone events, activities, and field trips and ensuring students leave SJEDS with confidence, a sense of belonging, and joyful memories. We are seeking a teacher who is: All-in when it comes to special event planning and collaboration with teammates to make each year exceptional. Committed to building strong relationships with students and families, serving as a trusted liaison and communicator. Skilled in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of upper elementary and middle school learners. Organized and confident in implementing engaging, student-centered lesson plans aligned with curricular goals. An effective classroom manager using strategies that support social-emotional well-being and a positive, inclusive learning environment. Rooted in their Christian faith and eager to pour that love, joy, and compassion into their teaching and classroom environment, supporting the spiritual development of students and living out the school’s mission in meaningful ways.

RESPONSIBILITIES SJEDS

Faculty members Adhere to the school’s Faculty Characteristics of Professional Excellence and the guidelines put forth in our Faculty Handbook. Embrace and live out the school’s mission and educational philosophy. Demonstrate careful preparation for instruction, a commitment to utilizing best practices in teaching and learning, and effective strategies for evaluating all students’ progress continuously and effectively. Develop and maintain a classroom atmosphere that is emotionally safe, respectful, positive, encouraging, and inclusive, using management and teaching strategies that cultivate the spiritual, social, and emotional skills and well-being of our students. Cultivate close-knit, trusting relationships with parents through frequent and respectful communication. Support the broader needs of the school community, including, but not limited to, participation in school professional development initiatives, community events, service and outreach opportunities, committee membership, parent and faculty meetings, and other commitments as requested by the Administration. Practice discretion and confidentiality. Demonstrate a lifelong commitment to remaining on the front edge of the Education (or related) field, seeking opportunities to use emerging research to inform practice, and remaining open to new approaches, techniques, and resources. Maintain professional credentials and/or certification.

QUALIFICATIONS SJEDS
