POSITION SUMMARY

ESI is seeking an ELA Teacher who is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning, participating in all required school and district meetings, as well as communicating with parents/guardians in relation to the needs of the students. The ELA Teacher will understand, demonstrate the use of, and implement the school’s curriculum, scholar instruction, and assessment to maximize educational achievement for all scholars, and work collaboratively to ensure a working and learning climate for all scholars that is safe, secure, and respectful. This is a salaried, exempt position with a 10-month work schedule and base standard hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily. The ELA Teacher will report to the school Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor Degree from accredited college or university required
  • Possession of a Florida Educator Certification in corresponding subject area or Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status in such subject area required.
  • Prior Teaching Experience Preferred Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.

Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, climb, crawl, push a cart, or lift during the entire shift. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, including small packages and supplies. Ability to pass Level 2 background check.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare classroom for class activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
