The Windermere Preparatory School faculty, staff, and administration are a team of dedicated, passionate professionals who enjoy working with children of all ages. The ESOL teacher will support multilingual learners in our PreK-Grade 5 classrooms. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with classroom teachers to provide inclusive language support that enables students to access the PYP curriculum while acquiring English proficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Support English Language learners through co-teaching, small-group, and one-on-one instruction within classroom settings. Collaborate with homeroom and specialist teachers to scaffold content and language instruction within the IB PYP framework. Design and implement targeted language interventions aligned with students’ English proficiency levels. Monitor student progress in English language acquisition using formal and informal assessment tools. Facilitate culturally responsive and linguistically inclusive learning environments. Participate in planning meetings to spport curriculum access for ELLs within the PYP framework. Advocate for and support culturally and linguistically diverse students in all aspects of school life. Partner with families to communicate student progress and provide strategies for language development at home. Be an active participant in the school-wide Language Acquisition team/department. Contribute to the school’s mission of international-mindedness and the IB learner profile.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, ESL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field. (Master’s preferred) Valid teaching certification with an ESOL endorsement or equivalent qualification. Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably with elementary-aged ELLs. Knowledge of language acquisition theory and best practices. Familiarity with WIDA or other language proficiency screeners. Experience with or willingness to learn the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, flexible mindset. Ability to differentiate instruction and assessment for diverse language needs.
