First Lutheran Church and School Position Summary:
The Middle School Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that fosters academic, social, and spiritual growth in middle school children. This position requires a strong understanding of the middle school student, effective classroom management techniques, and a commitment to Christian education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction:
o Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Florida standards and benchmarks and school curriculum. o Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. o Utilize a variety of teaching methods. o Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages exploration, discovery, and a love of learning. o Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback to students and parents. o Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with special needs.
Classroom Management:
o Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment. o Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior. o Supervise student behavior during all school activities.
Curriculum Development:
o Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s curriculum. o Select and utilize appropriate instructional materials and resources. o Integrate technology effectively into the learning process.
Communication:
o Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians. o Schedule and conduct parent-teacher conferences. o Communicate student progress and concerns to parents and administrators.
Professional Development:
o Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. o Stay current on best practices in education.
Faith Integration:
o Integrate the Christian faith as expressed in Holy Scripture and Luther’s Small Catechism into all aspects of the curriculum o Create opportunities for students to explore their faith and grow in their relationship with God. o Lead or participate in daily devotional times and other faith-based activities that are in line with Holy Scripture and Luther’s Small Catechism o Serve as a positive Christian role model for students.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education Valid teaching certificate.
