TITLE:

Literary Journal Advisor (BHS)

FUNCTION

To assume the responsibility for directing and supervising appropriate
activities such as interviewing and researching to obtain background
information for the writing of informational articles, poems, and short
stories. To provide training in journalism and developing English
composition skills. Directly responsible to the building principal.

DUTIES:

Assist students in scheduling and planning their Literary Club meetings and programs.
Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior, to provide an orderly productiveenvironment during all the time that students are working on the publication of the Literacy Journal.
Works closely with English teachers to develop student writing talent.
Submits reports to the building principal concerning the progress of the Literary Journal Club.
Helps each student to develop and enhance his or her writing skills.
Oversees the publication of the Literary Journal on an annual basis
Assumes responsibility for the facility or area in which assigned activity is conducted at all times students are present.
Assume responsibilities for related duties that may be assigned by the building principal.
Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.

EXPERIENCE

Preferably a member of the High School teaching staff.
Experience in teaching English composition and directing writing activities for publishing.

QUALIFICATIONS

Dedication to the service of youth.
Demonstrated ability to relate favorably with students.
