English Instructor 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Southaven, MS The English Instructor is a full-time, 9-month salaried position responsible for teaching English courses. These responsibilities involve developing and implementing course syllabi, achieving student learning outcomes, evaluating student performance, record-keeping, and related activities. Related activities include, but are not limited to, advising, serving on various committees, participating in recruiting and retention efforts, and participating in professional activities and organizations. This faculty position may require teaching assignments at one of the other campuses, with the primary office at the DeSoto campus.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in English or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in English Community College teaching experience in English preferred Demonstrated experience teaching online Proficiency in using learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard) and other educational technologies Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal communication skills required

HOURS:
8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach English courses, primarily Intermediate English, English Composition I, and English Composition II Prepare, administer, and grade essays, tests, other assignments, and/or program assessment data Maintain a record of student attendance as required by the Mississippi Community College Board Submit grades, attendance, and outcomes according to the academic calendar Manage timely engagement, grading, and communication Participate in departmental meetings and committee assignments Complete 15 hours of professional development each year Ability to travel between campus locations Establish effective working relationships with college administration, faculty, staff, and students. Adhere to school policy as set in the Policy and Procedures Manual. Perform other duties as assigned.
