Job Description

Summary:

Observes measurable improvement in and availability of instructional and assessment systems that contribute to the instructional achievement for English Language Learners. This position collaborates with building and district leadership to develop understanding of effective ELL programming, English Language Development instructional practices, and effective content area scaffolding techniques. The ELLS Coordinator organizes and provides services for EL students during summer and intercession programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate an annual EL comprehensive program evaluation and complete associated state reports.
Determine, develop, and implement effective professional development related to language acquisition and effective instructional practices for Limited English Proficient learners.
Provide consultation for regular classroom teachers concerning best practices to work with students in their classrooms who are Limited English Proficient.
Assist in the coordination of services for Limited English Proficient students.
Monitor the progress of identified Limited English Proficient students using all available information and data sources.
Provide leadership, continuity, and compliance with federal and state law regarding EL students.
Coordinate the administration of the state adopted English Language Proficiency Assessment along with the District Test Coordinator.
Assist parents of Limited English Proficient students with school and summer registration, parent conferences, and home learning skills.
Maintain the official program records, statistics, or data.
Review EL state test data to prepare language service plans.
Assist with Title III and Title III immigrant grant program requirements.
Provide professional development around sheltered instruction protocols and best instructional practices with English Language Learners.
Report to the principal on the status of open referrals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Federal Programs and Student Support Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree, valid MS teacher license with endorsement 177-English as a Second Language K-12
