The SRVRTC Center is seeking a dynamic and engaging part-time instructor to deliver hands-on Technical English language arts skills to students. This focused role will equip students with essential communication skills tailored for success in technical fields within our Career and Technical Education programs.
Responsibilities:
Technical English (Part-Time – Specific Blocks to be Determined):
- Develop and deliver a rigorous, hands-on curriculum focused on practical communication skills relevant to technical careers.
- Instruct students in various forms of professional writing, including:
- Resumes and cover letters
- Technical reports
- Business correspondence
- Professional summaries of CTE education experiences
- Facilitate collaborative projects and practical exercises that simulate real-world workplace scenarios.
- Organize and conduct informational interviews with local businesses, fostering direct engagement with industry professionals.
- Develop and assess student oral communication skills through presentations and simulated workplace scenarios.
- Create and maintain a classroom environment that promotes active learning, collaboration, and professional development.
- Integrate technology effectively into instruction to enhance student learning. General Responsibilities (Related to Technical English Instruction):
- Develop and implement lesson plans for the Technical English component that align with CTE Center goals and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate student records and provide timely feedback on student progress specifically related to Technical English skills.
- Collaborate with other CTE Center instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and integrated learning experience where communication skills are reinforced.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge in relevant communication areas.
- Adhere to all school and district policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, or a related field.(Preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in teaching writing and communication skills.
- Experience working with high school students in a career and technical education setting (preferred).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and industry partners.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and assessment.
- Experience with CTE programs is a plus.
