Summary:
Under the general supervision of the School Director, to develop students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, foster communication skills, develop an understanding and appreciation of literature of all types, motivate students to read a wide variety of publications to derive information, comprehend and critically assess the reading materials, and to promote the development of skills in the field of English reading, grammar and syntax.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. New Jersey Standard Teaching Certification (CE,CEAS) Teacher of English Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught. Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school related matters. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students and faculty etc. Prior to employment, the following must be addressed: Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with

The English Language Arts (ELA) teacher delivers ELA curriculum, creates a positive learning environment, and develops engaging lessons to foster critical thinking, communication, and writing skills. They assess student progress, adapt instruction to individual needs, and prepare students for standardized tests. ELA teachers also maintain records, communicate with parents, manage classroom behavior, collaborate with colleagues, and select instructional materials. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the School Director and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Subject Matter Specialization:
Language Arts or Teacher of English. Education Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments. Masters’ Degree preferred. Experience Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
Equipment :
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements:
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in standard office and school building environments.
