Job Summary Provide professional development for all counselors in assisting immigrant students and families transitioning from elementary school to middle school and from middle school to high school. Partner with community-based organizations in providing sessions concerning graduation, post-secondary education, and work opportunities. Work with counselors in providing cohesive and consistent transcript evaluation by providing professional development on international educational systems. What you will do Assist Newcomer and SIFE students as they transition into new schools. Mentor and build capacity with high school counselors on reviewing international transcripts. Assist counselors in appropriately scheduling newcomer students. Provide professional development to counselors on immigrant issues. Partner with community organizations in helping immigrant students bridge from school to college. Work with immigrant student groups in cross-cultural transitioning. Analyze, plan and implement action steps based on program and school needs. Education Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Required Skills and Abilities Knowledge of English learner students and EL teaching experience. Knowledge of counseling Cross-cultural knowledge Licenses and Certifications Completed counselors certification or in process Upon Hire Required EL certification
Upon Hire Preferred Equivalency Starting At:
$52,048.58 Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
