The purpose of this position is to assist with the design, development, and implementation of a strong system of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to support the English as a New Language (ENL) program. Collaborates with others to develop and lead professional learning opportunities for K-12 teachers across the district and designated school sites. Responsibilities Collaborate with others to develop, enhance, and support the ENL curriculum implementation to ensure alignment between WIDA standards, Tennessee State standards, summative, interim and formative assessments, and curricular sources. Collaborate with the development of professional learning, planning, research, and modeling required for acceleration of English language development (ELD). Provide ongoing job-embedded professional development; model effective instructional strategies; and lead discussions in evidence-based research with teachers, instructional coaches, and instructional leaders across the district. Share a vision of deep conceptual understanding of ENL content that goes beyond the teaching skill. Exhibit theoretical and research-based knowledge of second language acquisition and ELD standards. Enhance teachers’ understanding of cultural awareness, and application of instructional strategies that optimize the learning and maintain high standards for English Learners. Collaborate with various departments, including but not limited to Leading and Learning, HR, Federal Programs, Finance, and Communications to provide cohesive support for accelerating student achievement. Work as a member of a team and assist teachers in recognizing and responding to the academic needs of diverse learners in our district. Plan, prepare, and deliver model lessons using a variety of presentation methods. Provide planning feedback to teachers and assist in developing supplemental instructional materials and assessments. Use multiple forms of data to inform daily instructional decisions. Implement, model and support research based effective strategies that assist with the development of language learning goals. Maintain records progress and development for schools as well as steps taken to enhance growth and development. Maintain district communication lines, to include, but not limited to emails, Canvas course(s), and social media platforms. Communicate progress toward English language development goals with district staff. Track English language development academic data with fidelity in order to develop interventions and monitor program and student impact. Provide ongoing professional development to staff in regard to differentiation and other strategies to support EL students. Complete assigned duties that align to support the Future Ready Strategic Plan and the Office of Opportunity & Access Action Plan. Report on time and perform other duties as assigned Ensures compliance with district, state, and federal policies, federal codes, regulations, laws, rules, policies and procedures. Act in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times, including reporting to work as scheduled/on-time and maintaining confidentiality. Participate in school, district and specific network professional development activities. Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
Qualifications Knowledge/Education/Experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate field; Master’s degree strongly preferred or as required by state guidelines. Active TN teaching license. Two (2) years of leadership or instructional coach experience preferred. Valid state-issued driver’s license. Experience working with ELs preferred.

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
