The basics of this position:

THIS IS AN IN-PERSON, ONSITE POSITION LOCATED IN ST. LOUIS, MO & OPEN TO CURRENT ADJUNCTS ONLY

•St. Louis Community College is hiring a full-time, temporary, faculty member for the English Department, with appointment beginning in Fall 2025. This temporary faculty position will be available for the 2025- 2026 academic year. The position is shared between the Meramec Campus and South County. The successful candidate should expect at least half of the assigned schedule to be offered at South County. Teaching responsibilities may include day, evening, and weekend courses as well as online, hybrid, and live virtual lecture formats. In addition to classroom responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in departmental activities as well as opportunities to grow a rich student experience at South County through events, clubs/groups, and collaborations with other faculty. Candidates are eligible for medical benefits and will take part in the PSRS Retirement Program. What you’ll do: ? Teach all assigned courses and meet required contact hours.
? Prepare and plan for teaching assigned classes in accordance to course profiles and learning outcomes.
? Provide required campus hours per week to meet the students and complete other job expectations.
? Schedule student conferences to review individual student progress.
? Participate in departmental course development, assessment, and revisions as needed.
? Work collaboratively within the English Department to promote the goals of STLCC. Additionally, all employees are required to complete annual compliance training. Education, experience, and other requirements: Candidates will hold a Master’s degree in English or an MFA in

English Preferred Qualifications:

Successful candidates will be generalists in English with expertise in teaching composition as well as two or more of the following areas: co-requisite courses, assessment, teaching with technology, service learning, creative writing, and literature. The hiring committee prefers candidates with experience teaching at a community college and a demonstrated commitment to fostering a welcoming and supportive learning environment that serves a broad range of student backgrounds and perspectives.
