Job Purpose
The successful candidate will guide the Department of English and support and enhance its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department has 23 full-time faculty and approximately 15 part-time instructors and offers B.A. concentrations in Literature, Creative Writing, Theatre, Professional and Technical Communication, and Language and Rhetoric. The M.A.
program offers three concentrations:
Literature, Creative Writing, and Professional and Technical Communication. The Department teaches general education courses in composition, literature, and oral communication.

Essential Functions
The Department is seeking a Chair who will provide visionary leadership to strategically plan the direction and growth of the Department, build upon strengths, and forge collaborations across and beyond campus.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in English or a closely related field, area of specialization open. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Professor, with significant record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of teaching excellence, proven administrative skills, a strong record of academic leadership, outstanding interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate, interact and mediate effectively with students, colleagues, staff and alumni, and visionary leadership to strategically plan the direction and growth of the Department.
Preferred Qualifications
The ability to build upon strengths and forge collaborations across and beyond campus.

Commensurate with education and experience. This is a 9-month faculty position at the rank of Professor and eligible for tenure upon appointment pending TTU Board approval.
