DESCRIPTION:

Mississippi Valley State University is seeking a dynamic individual to join the department of Natural Science and Environmental Health as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Environmental Public Health. Department of Natural Sciences and Environmental Health program offers a rich academic environment with undergraduate programs in Biology and Chemistry, as well as master’s programs in Bioinformatics and Environmental Public Health. As part of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse faculty and student body, engage in cutting-edge research, and contribute to the advancement of environmental health knowledge.

Responsibilities:

Teach graduate-level multidisciplinary courses in environmental science and environmental public health as well as undergraduate science courses as needed.
Maintain seven (7) in-person office hours and three (3) online office hours per week to support students.
Participate in curricular development and assist with academic assessment goals.
Mentor and provide academic advisements for graduate and undergraduate NSEH students.
Support the EPH program accreditation process, curriculum development, and other assigned duties in the department.
Develop an active undergraduate and graduate research program.
Work collaboratively with others in the department to establish externally funded research grants.
Conduct publishable research in peer-reviewed journals.
Engage in departmental, university, and community services.
Participate in student recruitment and registration activities.

SKILLS/ELIGIBILITY

Required Qualifications PhD degree in Environmental Public Health / Environmental Science or related fields.
Experience as an Environmental Public health practitioner.
Ability to teach graduate-level multidisciplinary courses in environmental public health and environmental science as well as ability to teach undergraduate level science courses.
History of writing successful educational or research grants
Experience in online teaching.
Passion for environmental sustainability and Environmental public health advocacy
