Job Posting Title Postbac Teaching Fellow Job Description Summary Unclassified Non-Exempt Job Description Overview The CS Teaching Fellow is a recent graduate of computing related majors (CS, MAS, DS, CLS) who works full-time (12 months) as a staff member, and is supervised by Orit Shaer. The 2025-2026 Teaching Fellows will divide their time between supporting the active learning in (CS110, CS112) and supporting teaching activities in the HCI Lab (CS320, CS325, CS366). Any individual person may hold this position for a maximum of 2 years. Goals Support active learning in a larger lecture section (CS110) or in Intro courses where students might require additional support (CS112). Maintain and supervise the use of equipment in the HCI Lab. Manage the purchasing and preparation of new teaching equipment for the HCI Lab. Provide teaching and technical support for courses and independent studies taught in the HCI Lab including CS320 Tangible User Interfaces, CS325 Designing for Accessibility, and CS366 Advanced Projects in Interactive Media. Responsibilities Teaching support for intro courses: Provide in-class support during CS110 and CS112 lectures, thus enabling the use of active learning techniques (such as whiteboard problem solving, pair programming, and small group discussion) during larger lecture sections. Assist in grading so that students receive timely feedback on programming assignments. This will include leading and coordinating grading support from undergraduate graders. Hold student hours to provide additional support for students while fostering a sense of community. Help faculty to reach out and support students who require additional support. Assist in the development and testing of new teaching materials including in-class activities and new assignments. Assist with the collection and analysis of assessment data for evaluating these new courses. Teaching support for courses taught in the HCI Lab (CS320, CS325, CS366, independent studies): Troubleshoot software and hardware issues in the HCI Lab teaching equipment. Create and maintain instructional video tutorials and documentation for the HCI Lab teaching equipment. Perform open technical demos and tutorials for students, faculty and staff. Regular maintenance of existing teaching equipment, and the purchasing and installation of new equipment. Hold student hours for supporting the use of lab equipment in student projects.
