Position Description The Half Graduate Assistant (.5 GA) will work 10 hours per week and receive up to 15 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 6 for fall, 6 for spring and 3 for summer. Overview
This Half (.5) Graduate Assistant will support the computer science Electronics and Robotics Lab. This lab is an integral part of several computer science courses, including COMP206, COMP470, COMP460, COMP590, COMP570, and COMP406. The lab also supports as many as a dozen student research projects. Without a .5 GA, maintaining the lab and keeping it safe and organized requires a good deal of faculty time. This opportunity will benefit the .5 GA by giving him/her employable experience in electronics technology, and building leadership and mentoring skills. Duties
Maintaining the lab, keeping it clean, safe, and organized.
Inventoring equipment and components, recommending purchases as needed
Writing and updating the lab safety policy
Assisting faculty with the setup and takedown of teaching lab experiments
Mentoring students on electronics projects Preferred Qualifications Experience with electronics test equipment and circuit building.
Experience programming microcontrollers is preferred. Physical Demands Able to work with electronics components.
Can lift equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
