POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Learning and Performance Systems in the College of Education at Penn State University invites applications for multiple Teaching-Focused Postdoctoral Scholar positions. These teaching roles will primarily support instruction in one or more of the following programs: Lifelong Learning and Adult Education Workforce Education and Development Organizational Development and Change Learning, Design, and Technology This is an excellent opportunity for recent doctoral graduates seeking to deepen their teaching expertise in a supportive, research-active academic department. Responsibilities The successful candidates will teach undergraduate and master’s level courses (both residential and online) with an innovative, student-centered pedagogy. Additional responsibilities may include supervising and training teaching assistants, advising master’s students, and contribute service to the department, college, university, and professional communities. Occasional travel may be required for off-site teaching assignments (twice a year for two teaching days). Required Qualifications Applicants must have earned a doctorate by the start date (Fall 2025) in (or closely related to) Lifelong Learning and Adult Education; Workforce Education and Development; Organizational Development and Change; or Learning, Design, and Technology. Candidates should demonstrate evidence or strong potential for:

  • Excellence in teaching and assessing undergraduate and graduate students
  • Student-centered, flexible instructional approaches for diverse learners, including first-year students and working professionals
  • Effective mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students
  • Supporting novice instructors and teaching assistants
  • Working collaboratively with individuals from varied backgrounds
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with learning management systems, interactive tools, and current educational technologies
  • Commitment to equity-minded teaching, mentoring, and advising
