(PART-TIME / FULL-TIME) Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is a national leader in integrating community- based medical education and clinical care. We are dedicated to training socially accountable physicians, scientists, and health professionals committed to serving the community. The College of Medicine is also an academic and clinical affiliate of Baptist Health and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU) seeks applicants for part- time or full-time, non-tenure, open rank faculty (assistant, associate, or full professor) positions. The ideal candidates will have a history of teaching excellence in medical education. Selected candidates will collaborate with Strand Leaders, Discipline Leads, Unit Directors, Course Directors, and the Office of Medical Education to design and implement curricular content in a dynamic and innovative learning environment, managing the teaching faculty and promoting collaboration, identifying gaps and redundancies in content, and incorporating effective learning and assessment formats. Selected candidates will provide instruction in basic science courses and the basic science components of clinical courses as per personal expertise and the needs of the curriculum (predominantly MD Program but may also include, as needed, participation in other programs at the college including the Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies program, Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences program, and Graduate Certificate program). The selected candidate(s) will serve as Unit and/or Course Directors for Foundations and Organ Systems courses and will teach in other courses according to expertise and curricular need. Candidate(s) will have preferred expertise in Physiology, Cardio-pulmonology and the ability to teach foundational sciences disciplines. Minimum qualifications include a terminal doctoral degree, MD/DO, Pharm. D. or Ph.D. in basic science disciplines, such as Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, or a related field. Preferred qualifications include the ability to teach additional foundational sciences disciplines, experience with the use of technology and active learning instruction, two to three years of relevant teaching experience in medical education, and/or previous experience as a Course Director.
