Job Description
Genitourinary Division â Professor of Medicine The Department of Medical Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) are seeking a medical oncologist to serve as Professor of Medicine who will strengthen and support Dana-Farber’s multidisciplinary Genitourinary Oncology (GU) program.
The successful candidate will serve in an academic position, engaged in research, clinical work and innovation, mentorship, education, and academic leadership.
Because this position is intended to advance the Institute mission in drug discovery and innovation, candidates should have extensive experience in partnerships between academic oncology and pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, as well as the development and conduct of early- and late-stage clinical trials in oncology.
The position will fill a departmental and institutional need for a GU Medical Oncologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute that focuses on prostate cancer.
There is an ever-increasing number of novel therapeutics being developed across many modalities in prostate cancer, including targeted small molecule therapies, immunotherapies, antibody therapies, radioligand therapy, and cellular therapies.
This role would be a critical investigator and mentor to the prostate cancer program and more broadly to the Institute, especially around clinical trials.
The position involves multiple responsibilities including clinical care in GU oncology, clinical and translational research, mentoring and development of clinical investigators, and advanced administrative and managerial roles across units at Dana-Farber including our clinical research programs, translational science and population science programs, genomics program for early cancer detection and tumor genomics, and our early drug discovery center.
The Division of GU Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a multidisciplinary team that involves clinical care, clinical research, and translational research.
The clinical program includes nearly 25 medical oncologists, working closely with 10 surgeons/radiation oncologists, as well as pathologists.
Annually, the program has an exam volume of over 2,800 new patients, and enrolls approximately 210 patients in therapeutic clinical trials, with about 50 ongoing trials.
Our program would benefit from an experienced, world-class GU oncologist able of providing the outstanding care to prostate cancer patients, while having deep familiarity with prostate cancer biology and treatment paradigms.
The successful candidate will an internationally recognized expert in the development and leadership of targeted therapies and phase III trials in prostate cancer, with a track record of successful development and execution of clinical treatment trials and translational correlative studies, and extensive familiarity with pre-clinical proof of concept testing and clinical trials designs.
Applicants are expected to have extensive experience in creating collaborations in clinic and clinical research, including multidisciplinary partnerships in patient care, as well as partnerships with leading academic centers, laboratory investigators, and with pharmaceutical and biotechnology enterprises engaged in oncology research.
Candidates should have a demonstrable record of mentorship / career development among early-career faculty.
Successful applicants are expected to have an academic and scholarly accomplishments commensurate with appointment as a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.. Salary and benefits will be competitive with other institutions.
