Adjunct Faculty within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are critical to the success of UNE’s online programs. The role of the faculty in CPS is to facilitate the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Instructors also serve as mentors, sharing their experience to help guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. The faculty facilitates the retention of students through creating a positive educational environment, allowing for students to derive the maximum benefits from the program in which they are enrolled. Instructors will receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the UNE Online Master of Science in Applied Nutrition (MSAN) and/or Doctor of Clinical Nutrition (DCN) program(s). Responsibilities Guiding students through their educational experience while upholding and adhering to the CPS commitment to student success
Providing timely response to student inquiries, within 24 hours
Facilitating class instruction by engaging in the online course portal a minimum of 5 times per week
Hosting a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week
Posting weekly announcements to enhance course content
Demonstrate excellent collaborative and communication skills Qualifications The ideal candidate has experience teaching online in an educational setting, has demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment, and has a passion for teaching Nutrition science
Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field and current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Licensure
Terminal degree in Nutrition or related field
Optional, but preferred: Experience in teaching research methods and statistics
A minimum of three years teaching experience in Nutrition, Research Methods, Statistics or a combination of the above
A desire to motivate and encourage students in academic and professional settings
Expertise teaching online and the desire to learn and apply new technological approaches to education
Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management system EEO Statement Summary
