Overview
Summary
Educates students in the Surgical Technology program under the Allied Health division by providing instructional experiences that support mission and goals of University and/or program. Under the administrative direction of the Academic Dean and/or general direction of the Program Chair.
Responsibilities
+ Coordinates and delivers courses as assigned.
+ Evaluates student learning outcomes for expected course and program competencies.
+ Participates in classroom and/or clinical instruction.
+ Communicates institutional and program policies and goals to students, faculty, staff, and clinical affiliates as appropriate.
+ Communicates course learning outcomes and expected student competencies to clinical affiliates.
+ Participates in activities to remain current with advances in knowledge base, teaching and learning strategies, professional practice, trends, issues, and curricular resources.
+ Participates in the assessment of Program Learning Outcomes as needed.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Education
Desired:
Master’s Degree in the teaching or professional discipline; or Master’s Degree with a minimum of eighteen(18) graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline or Master’s Degree in a related or academically appropriate discipline and the terminal degree/certificate in the professional discipline.
Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree in the teaching or professional discipline; or Bachelor’s Degree in a related or academically appropriate discipline and the terminal degree/certificate
in the professional discipline.
Minimum:
Work or teaching experience equivalent to three (3) years of post-secondary teaching in the discipline.
Minimum:
Demonstrates basic currency with trends, issues, and practices in the profession or discipline.
Minimum:
Current license/certification to practice in the State of Tennessee as appropriate to professional practice
areas.
