Development and Alumni Engagement Associate 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 1200 West Montgomery Road, Tuskegee, AL 36088 Position Information Position Title Development and Alumni Engagement Associate Status Full Time Job Summary Tuskegee University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Development Associate to provide strategic and operational support to the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations . This vital role is designed for an experienced administrative professional who can provide high-level support in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. As a key contributor to the Division of Development and Alumni Engagement , the Development Associate serves as the central hub for coordination, communication, and execution of initiatives that strengthen alumni relationships and secure philanthropic support for Tuskegee University. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, discretion, initiative, and a deep commitment to the University’s mission. Essential Job Duties Executive and Operational Support Provide direct support to the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and coordinating travel. Serve as a liaison between the Vice President and internal/external stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective communication. Draft and edit correspondence, reports, and presentations with attention to tone, clarity, and alignment with institutional priorities. Strategic and Project Support Assist in the coordination and execution of key initiatives and projects within the Division of Development and Alumni Engagement. Track progress on strategic goals, maintain project timelines, and support team leaders in meeting critical deadlines. Organize and manage special assignments, including donor stewardship efforts, divisional planning meetings, and alumni engagement campaigns. Scholarship System Management Serve as the primary manager of the University’s scholarship system , overseeing day-to-day operations, user support, and data integrity. Collaborate with development officers, financial aid, and academic departments to ensure accurate tracking and awarding of donor-funded scholarships. Monitor system workflows and deadlines, generate reports, and help ensure compliance with donor intent and institutional policies. Provide training and ongoing support to internal users and assist in optimizing the system for greater efficiency and impact. Administrative Management Maintain organized systems for document management, donor correspondence, and university records related to development and alumni relations. Support budget and resource tracking in collaboration with finance and administrative staff. Ensure the smooth operation of the Office of the Vice President, addressing day-to-day administrative needs and facilitating team collaboration. Team and Division Coordination Coordinate divisional meetings, retreats, and other team events, including logistics, materials, and follow-up communication. Support internal communication and alignment across the division by helping to manage shared calendars, workflows, and information sharing. Assist with onboarding and orientation for new team members within the division. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field 3 years of executive administrative support experience 2 years of experience in financial operations, including fund tracking or budget support Familiarity with fundraising or CRM platforms (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) is a plus. Preferred Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or professional certification. Experience in higher education, fundraising, or a nonprofit setting.

Skills and Attributes Knowledge of:

Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with fundraising or CRM platforms (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) is a plus. Strong writing, communication, and editing skills with an ability to produce high-quality materials for internal and external audiences. Proven organizational and project management skills, with keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
