Vice Dean for Academic Opportunities and SuccessStony BrookUniversity, Renaissance School of Medicine, located in Stony Brook,New York, is seeking a collaborative and strategic leader to serveas the inaugural Vice Dean for Academic Opportunities and Success(VDAOS). Reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine, the VDAOSwill focus on enhancing academic excellence, economic advancement,and positive health outcomes by centralizing programmaticinitiatives, recruitment efforts, and training to foster a cultureof well-being across the medical school.
The VDAOS will work toboost collaboration, remove barriers for students, faculty, andstaff, and expand positive outcomes in education, clinicalpractice, and research. Stony Brook University is a flagshipinstitution within the New York State University System, a memberof the AAU, and holds a high research activity CarnegieClassification. The school trains over 500 medical students and 750residents and fellows annually, with extensive research funding,including NIH-sponsored programs.
Building on the school’s five-yearstrategic plan, the VDAOS will promote well-being and successfuloutcomes by improving access to resources, investing inrecruitment, updating curricula to reflect health equity,formalizing mentoring initiatives, and providing training toincrease cohesion. The role involves working with program leaders,mentors, and community stakeholders to ensure clinical and researchactivities meet community needs, especially on LongIsland.
