The Director of Director of Programming and Engagement under the supervision of the Deputy Director, is responsible for supporting the organization’s efforts to engage with Jewish people and institutions across the full diversity of the Greater Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien area.

Key responsibilities will include relationship building and problem solving, programmatic support, content development, fundraising, research, and volunteer stewardship.

What you’ll do – Essential Job Functions PJ Library Organize and promote family programming and community engagement, to engage young families with UJF through PJ Library – this can include partnerships with community organizationsIdentify leaders and rebuild an active PJ Library Committee, connecting these participants to the greater mission of UJFEnsure ongoing communication with PJ Library national office to obtain resources and professional development opportunities, and ensure that all grant applications and program reports are completed on timeSource material for and produce a monthly PJ Library NewsletterAttend community events where PJ Library recruitment is possibleAttend annual PJ Library conferenceOversee the annual Women’s Philanthropy Spring Dinner and AuctionWork closely with chairpersons and committees to grow the reach, impact, and effectiveness of Women’s PhilanthropyManage both Dignity Grows and 3Square, projects of Women’s PhilanthropyIdentify and cultivate new leadership for increased involvement, including a financial commitment to UJFSteward new and existing donors who are women, to cultivate and secure new and increased giftsNextGenngage event chairs and committee to implement and plan meaningful events that drive the mission of UJFMeet with newcomers to engage them in the Jewish community and the work of UJFImplement strategic engagement and next steps for this cohort including meaningful givingAct as lead development staff for securing Annual Campaign contributions from this groupOutreach & EngagementRecruit for and manage UJF’s Reading Partners programFind new opportunities to engage the broader Jewish communityOversee Shalom Baby and Shalom Stamford/Welcome visitsAttend community events as needed, on behalf of FederationOtherLead or support staff on additional programs as needed, including but not limited to the Big Give, annual Interfaith Seder, Yom HaShoah, and Community Yom HaAtzmaut celebrationWork closely with all staff as neededDevelop measurable outcomes to evaluate effectiveness of assignments including but not limited fundraising from PJ Library, Women’s Philanthropy and NextGen committees and participantsWhat you’ll bring –

Minimum RequirementsEducation:

A Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college or university.

Ideal degrees include but are not limited to Non-Profit Management, Social Work, Jewish Communal Service, Management and Leadership, Hospitality, Tourism, Event Management, Marketing/Advertising, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or Jewish Communal Service.

Experience:

Four to six years of professional work experience in a non-profit organization or equivalent is preferredSupport Israel’s right to exist as the Jewish homeland and the only democracy in the Middle EastUnderstanding of Jewish values, holidays, traditions, and culture.

Jewish communal service experience and Jewish knowledge is a plusMust have knowledge and ability to use databases, computer spreadsheets, word processing and other basic programs (Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel), and email marketing programs (such as Constant Contact)The ideal candidate will be dynamic, high-energy, creative, organized, and be able to act as a community organizer while possessing an unequivocal level of diplomacy and discretionImportant qualities for success in this role include being detail-oriented, versatile, organized, innovative, collaborative and a team playerThe candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset, be able to identify and pursue new opportunities and be effective at forging strong interpersonal connections and alliancesThe candidate must also have a team-oriented attitude and a desire to work collaboratively with colleagues and volunteer partners, managing multiple tasks with minimal supervisionExperience in event coordination, community organizing, and volunteer engagement is idealThe ideal individual should be able to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activitiesHumility, the ability to receive feedback, and a desire to learn and growPhysical RequirementsLifting, pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds using proper body mechanics and/or available equipment as physically required, including but not limited to moving supplies and office furniture, etc.

Physical stamina – must be able to bend, kneel, and squat as required to maintain files and records, etc.

Position uses typical office environment apparatus including computer, printer, fax machine and copierReporting RelationshipsReports directly to the Deputy DirectorClassificationThis position qualifies as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as it involves executive and administrative responsibilities, professional discretion, and management of operations integral to the organization’s success.

This version ensures the role emphasizes executive-level decision-making, strategic oversight, and independent discretion, aligning with exempt status criteria.

Salary and Benefits This position provides a salary range of $65,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience.

In addition to health, vision, and dental benefits available to full-time exempt employees, we offer contributions to a retirement account after 1 year of employment.
