Job Description
The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement works under the AVP of Alumni Affairs in collaboration with Advancement staff to promote alumni engagement and philanthropy for Florida Tech. This role will collaborate with the Office of Advancement, University Events and Protocol, Creative Services, and other university units in planning and executing alumni-focused events that foster good will and positive relationships with alumni, students, and the general public. Under supervision, this position will help coordinate a variety of alumni networking events, both on campus, virtually and around the world. As part of the event process, this individual will maintain strong vendor relationships and be willing to travel.
Responsibilities:
Organize national and international alumni receptions by identifying locations, comparing quotes, booking venues, coordinating menus, and maintain vendor relationships. Travel to manage off-site receptions and work with venue for coordination. Assist in organizing Homecoming, MLK Commemoration, WISE awards, legacy student receptions, etc. Work with on-campus departments, such as University Events & Protocol, President’s Office, Athletics, Advancement, and each College. Work with off campus entities, as necessary. Collaborate with the Alumni Communications & Content Manager on pre- and post-event communications and content distribution slated for all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn Alumni Group, and Florida Tech Connect) as well as responding to comments, questions, and messages. Select and design promotional items, graphics, and presentations in partnership with the university’s Creative Services team to increase brand awareness and strengthen affinity among alumni audience. Support, manage and engage regional affinity groups, young alumni, and alumni-owned businesses. Welcome alumni and visitors to the Folliard Alumni Center and lead campus tours. Attend monthly college dean meetings with Advancement to promote alumni reception and event invitations. Other duties as assigned by the AVP of Alumni Affairs and VP of Philanthropy.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
