SCU offers full-service programming, providing opportunities from Recreational and outreach programs to the highest levels of elite competition. Additionally, SCU hosts tournaments, camps, and events to foster player development. SCU’s on- and off-field operations are supported by over 60 personnel, including full-time admin staff, Directors, coaches, and volunteers. The Position The Goalkeeper Director is a full-time role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the club’s goalkeeper program. This includes coaching individual goalkeepers across all levels, mentoring goalkeeper coaches, and ensuring a structured developmental pathway for all goalkeepers within SCU. Essential Functions On-Field Responsibilities Design and implement a comprehensive goalkeeper development program aligned with SCU’s philosophy and game model. Plan and execute weekly goalkeeper training sessions for all age groups (U9-U19) across ECNL, RL, NPL, and FCL programs. Provide individualized feedback and development plans for goalkeepers at all levels. Ensure goalkeepers are integrated effectively within team training and match preparations. Support matchday preparations by analyzing opposition, coordinating set pieces, and advising team coaches on goalkeeper strategy. Work closely with physical and medical staff to monitor and enhance goalkeeper fitness and injury prevention. Attend team training sessions to oversee goalkeeper involvement (2-3x per week per team). Scout and identify goalkeepers within SCU and external programs. Conduct Open ID sessions (4x per year) and tryouts (3-4 sessions in May). Off-Field Responsibilities Maintain regular communication with players, parents, and team coaches. Develop and track goalkeeper performance metrics within SCU’s club platform. Review and upload game footage to the
ECNL-HUDL
platform for analysis. Utilize video analysis software (e.g., Darkhorse Software) to provide targeted feedback to goalkeepers. Conduct player evaluation meetings (2-3x per year) to discuss progress and development plans. Produce mid-season and end-of-season reports on goalkeeper development for the Executive Director. Participate in academy-wide scouting efforts and maintain a database of top goalkeepers. Provide goalkeeper-specific training resources for team coaches. Stay current with modern goalkeeper training methodologies and innovations. Overall SCU Academy & Club Responsibilities Attend staff meetings and ECNL coaching discussions as required. Assist with player registration for ECNL, RL, NPL, and FCL leagues. Support goalkeeper coach education within the club. Assist in team travel planning as needed. Ensure positive representation of SCU in all professional settings. Act as a mandatory reporter for any suspected abuse, following SCU’s Abuse Prevention Policy. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Qualifications & Competencies Mandatory USSF “B” License (or USSF Goalkeeping License – Level 2+ ) Minimum 3-5 years of goalkeeper coaching experience at the youth, college, or professional level Strong understanding of modern goalkeeping principles and player development strategies Preferred USSF “A,” “A-Senior,” or “A-Youth” License Experience in
ECNL, USL, MLS
Next, or equivalent high-level environments Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to positively engage with youth players, parents, and coaching staff. Strong communication and organizational skills (email, phone, meetings). Expertise in goalkeeper-specific video analysis tools (HUDL, Veo, Darkhorse). A proactive, growth-oriented approach to coaching and development. Job Type & Work Environment Job Requirements Full-time, salaried position Office hours: 16 hours per week (Monday-Thursday, 4 hours per day, as assigned by the Director) On-field coaching: 2-3 hours per weeknight, plus 3+ hours per weekend (schedule varies based on games, events, and travel) Physical & Travel Demands Regularly required to talk, listen, stand, walk, and use hands and arms Work in both office and outdoor environments , including exposure to extreme weather conditions Engage in physical activities , including bending, sitting, lifting, and event setup Travel required for away games, showcases, and tournaments Background Requirements Background check required upon offer, with annual renewals.
