Required Qualifications

  • ### This position requires either (a) Masters degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; (b) Bachelors degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience.“`{=html}“
  • Desired Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate should have at least two years of responsibility and leadership in student affairs.

Must have skills and experience in the areas of communication (oral and written), program planning and implementation, event management, supervision, student group advising, student organization skills, the ability to develop and maintain relationships, and commitment to the ethical development of students and staff.

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or Event Management preferred.

  • General Description / Primary Purpose
  • The Student Government Engagement Coordinator, under the direction of the Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of Student Government events, programming, and initiatives.
  • Develops strategies and tools of best practices to assist student leaders in planning small to large-scale campus events.
  • Counsels students in social and cultural areas affecting their non-academic development
  • Policy and Procedure/Subject Matter Expert
  • Responsible for interpreting and enforcing university, local, state and federal safety regulations as appropriate for events and activities where varying levels of risk are involved.
  • Recommends policies and procedures that are pertinent to Student Government leadership and programming staff; ensures compliance with all university, local, state, federal laws and policies and procedures; has frequent contact with student leadership and Student Affairs administrators and staff.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director to build new budgets each fiscal year
  • Operations
  • Create reports to present to Assistant Director and act as professional staff representation at meetings and events when necessary.
  • Participates in SG professional staff meetings; attends Senate and Legislative committee meetings as needed
  • Programming Initiatives and Event Planning
  • Oversees the management and coordination of all Student Government events and activities, including master schedule of events, and assisting at events and activities as needed.
  • Develop a comprehensive student leadership program and plan appropriate stages for leadership development
  • Training
  • Provides support, guidance, and implements comprehensive student leadership development.
  • Supervise, train and schedule student leadership team, responsible for assisting in overall event operations, including identifying maintenance, custodial, safety, accessibility, and risk management issues
  • Departmental Requirements
  • This position requires a positive, self-motivated person with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. This position is an integral part of student life, and as such, success is measured by the ability to successfully interact with students and assist in their individual needs and concerns.
  • The position may be occasionally required to work outside the normal 8-5 office hours as dictated by Student Government meetings, events, other programming, and internal processes.
