Assistant Director, Transfer Admissions 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Tallahassee, FL Department Office of Admissions Responsibilities The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management’s integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student’s development and progression in their academic experience – from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University. Responsible for the management, administration, planning, and coordination of the Transfer section for the Office of Admissions. Responsible for managing, developing, and overseeing the daily functions of the Transfer section for the Office of Admissions. Manages the completion of incomplete transfer, re-admissions, and non-degree applications. Provides guidance and direction to staff regarding admissions decisions for accepted, denied, and rescinded offers of admissions. Hires and trains new employees in the transfer file review. Continually evaluates program effectiveness and efficiency and may introduce procedural changes based on needs. Collaborates with senior leadership to introduce enhancements. Coordinates with senior leadership to review applications for talent-based majors and prospective student athletes. Determines priorities of work assignments. Frequent contact with prospective students, the general public, University officials, and officials from other colleges and universities. Counsels prospective transfer, readmission, non-degree, and FSU Next students. Represents the University at sponsored events pertaining to Admissions, providing information about the University and its programs. Extensive contact with prospective students, academic departments on campus, the general public, and representatives from different colleges/universities. Contributes to long-range planning. Reviews and evaluates policies and procedures, making suggestions, and recommendations to senior leadership. Shares in the compilation and analysis of data for recommendations and projections. Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and staffing of the Office of Admissions. Makes independent decisions regarding comparison of courses offered at the University with those at other colleges and universities and responds to inquiries. Serves as back-up to the Program Director in discussions and testing with Information Services regarding changes to the student information system. May represent the Office of Admissions at on-campus, off-campus, and online events and at conferences. Assists other sections during peak times in support of the goals of the Office of Admissions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and eight years of related experience. (

a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.) Preferred Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of complimentary experience preferred. We seek enthusiastic candidates who are detail-oriented, and who work well independently as well as in a team. Experience working with various populations, reviewing transcripts, and interpreting and applying admissions tests is preferred. Candidates should have the ability to review, analyze, formulate, organize data and information, and follow through on assignments. Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Candidates with a strong sense of initiative and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently are preferred. The ability to make sound judgments while working in a deadline-driven environment is essential. Experience should be relevant and related to the responsibilities of the job. Qualified candidates will possess the ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously. Experience counseling and/or providing expertise and advice is required. Qualified candidates will have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software.
