Program Director, Training & Federal Work Study 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Tallahassee, FL Department Office of Financial Aid Responsibilities The Office of Financial Aid is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management’s integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student’s development and progression in their academic experience – from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University. Position oversees the operations of Financial Aid Training, Federal Work-Study programs within the Office of Financial Aid. Responsible for developing and implementing staff training, managing program budgets, assessing policies and procedures, collaborating with stakeholders within areas of oversight within the Office of Financial Aid. Oversees the development and implementation of training programs within the Office of Financial Aid. Position leads the development and quality of intensive training curriculum that is content, learner, and problem-solving centered. Designs and implements curriculum for various learning styles that are specific to onboarding, financial aid foundations, technical/system navigation and processing, and compliance (state, federal and institutional). Curriculum tools include presentations, manuals, and specialized training plans for new and continuing Financial Aid staff. Collaborates with senior leadership to identify training needs, priorities, and evaluation of initiatives. Cultivates and supports the development of the OFA Apprentice Program for technical skills training for new and current staff across the Office of Financial Aid. Implements 30/60/90 day goals for new staff to increase knowledge and proficiency levels. Develops and delivers soft skills training in communication, supervision, and customer service based on a depth of understanding of learning methodologies. Optimizes the use of multiple platforms such as Salesforce (CRM), Teams, Chatbots, internal and external resource sites to address training needs. Partners with senior leadership to conduct performance reviews to ensure professional development and training programs are effective and align with organizational goals. Responsible for managing the Federal Work-Study and related programs within the Office of Financial Aid. Closely coordinates activities with other program directors to ensure financial aid packaging and disbursement of student funds are timely, accurate, and in compliance with University, federal, and state regulations. Oversees the Federal Work Study spending budget to ensure allocation is awarded and expended within the awarding year. Reallocates resources and provides recommendations to senior leadership accordingly. Provides continuous financial aid assistance, and counseling services on a daily basis, to students, parents, staff, and on and off campus community service agencies regarding financial aid awards and Work Study processes by email, telephone, in person and/or workshops. Assesses, develops, and conducts University-wide training for campus partners. Responsible for the efficient and effective interpretation, execution, and communication of certain Federal and State laws and regulations and University policies and procedures relating to financial aid matters. Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field in order to enhance FWS and Training programs. Develops, revises, and implements program policies, procedures, and internal audit controls for Federal Work-Study and Training programs. Compiles and evaluate the effectiveness of program statistics to ensure program effectiveness. Conducts research on financial aid data to gauge program success as well as to improve efficiency, compliance, and the quality of student service. Collaborates with FA Systems to identify efficiencies, participate in testing, advise of regulatory changes, and ensure compliance with program eligibility requirements. Provides direction and leadership reflective of compliance and innovation within the Office of Financial Aid. Serves as a member of departmental senior leadership team. May represent the Office of Financial Aid to FSU offices and committees, other institutions, and at professional conferences. Provides support to other sections during peak times in support the goals of the Office of Financial Aid. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and ten years of said experience. (

a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.) Preferred Qualifications A Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and complimentary experience is preferred. Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Candidates with a strong sense of initiative and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently are preferred. The ability to make sound judgments while working in a deadline-driven environment is essential. Qualified candidates will possess the ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously. Qualified candidates will have excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience creating and delivering presentations to small and large groups. Applicants must have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software.
