Dean of Students Ina A. Colen Academy Ocala, FL 34474 Job description Ina A. Colen Academy is a tuition-free public charter school of choice located in the Calesa Township Community in Marion County, Florida. Founded in 2020, Ina A. Colen Academy serves students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Along with the school’s mission to cultivate passionate learners in an inclusive school community in which individuality and empathy for other through collaboration and active learning, its passionate team of teachers has contributed to the achievement of a Grade “A” for two academic years in a row! The Ina A. Colen Academy is seeking a dedicated Dean of Students who is passionate about education and committed to implementing policies and procedures to ensure a safe and orderly environment for students. The Ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, both verbal and written, collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders and are dedicated to making a positive impact on school youth.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the development of guidelines for proper student conduct and disciplinary policies and procedures that ensure a safe and orderly environment. Maintain comprehensive files on each student requiring disciplinary action and maintain records for audits. Complete investigative and due-process procedures to include disciplinary action consistent with Student Conduct policies. Uses relevant student information, i.e., Individualized Education Program (IEP), as an integral part of recommendations for student discipline. Maintain visibility and accessibility on the school campus and at school-related activities and events during work day. Recognizes potential disruption to the orderly function of the school and implement strategies to prevent it. Supervises student activities on the school campus and at school-related events. Assist administration communicate through meetings and written material information that will keep staff, students, and parents informed of disciplinary policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field Three years of succesful teaching experience Ability to pass an extensive background screening process Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
