Description General Description:

The Coordinator, Developmental Education performs professional work to support developmental education and student success. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of composition, reading, writing, and tutorial operations and technologies. Coordinates all aspects of tutoring services in support of student success. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director, Learning Resource Center (LRC).

Examples of Duties Essential Job Duties:

1. Teaches three Developmental Education labs per semester.
2. Prepares, instructs, and grades all class coursework.
3. Promotes positive student learning outcomes through effective teaching.
4. Works directly with students providing tutorial services.
5. Coordinates student tutors training and scheduling.
6. Assesses and evaluates tutorial interventions.
7. Provides technical support, troubleshooting and content assistance with a variety of tutorial systems.
8. Assists students with faculty developed instructional interventions in class content.
9. Provides skilled reference services and interprets inquiries and requests in the use of and retrieval from print and electronic resources to students.
10. Assists in implementing College policies and achieving College goals according to College policies and procedures.
11. Participates in professional development opportunities offered within the LRC and the College that contribute to the institutional goals of the College, engages in outreach, instruction and public relations activities and programming.
12. Performs responsibilities in accordance with pertinent goals, missions, and plans of the College and the LRC.
13. Participates in staff and committee work.
14. Assist in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate.
15. Required to attend Graduation/Commencement ceremonies.
16. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required, must include at least 18 credits in ENC or ENG course work.
  • Two years of tutoring or instructional work experience preferred.
