Description General Description:

The Director of the Learning Resources Center is responsible for the administration and operation of the Learning Resources Center; including policy and strategic planning, fiscal management, and supervision of personnel, facilities, and equipment. This position works under the supervision of the Vice President, Academic Affairs.

Examples of Duties Essential Job Duties:

1. Provide leadership for the implementation and evaluation of Learning Resources programs and services; including, but not limited to, library services, the Writing Center, the Math Center, and tutoring services, in order to ensure effectiveness and quality. 2. Participate in strategic and annual planning processes as they relate to the College’s mission, vision, and advocacy for the Learning Resources Center and tutoring services. 3. Responsible for ensuring compliance with national, state, and regional regulations, laws, and statutes which pertain to the Learning Resources Center; including, but not limited to, the library, Writing Center, Math Center, and tutoring services. 4. Supervise, evaluate, and foster training and development opportunities for Learning Resources personnel. 5. Serve as the College’s liaison with external agencies; including, but not limited to, the Florida Virtual Campus. 6. Manage change, incorporating feedback and data from the College administration, faculty, staff, and students to align the Learning Resources Center with the College strategic plan. 7. Facilitate faculty and library staff in the evaluation and development of the library collections in support of the College’s strategic plan. 8. Raise awareness and promote the role of Learning Resources staff in the educational process, especially regarding the teaching and learning activities that support the College’s curriculum. 9. Maintain fiscal responsibility for the Learning Resources, tutoring services, and Library budgets through proper planning, preparation, and administration. 10. Oversee and participate in Learning Resources Center operations including acquisitions, cataloging, instructional technology, information literacy, library webpage, circulation and reserves, resource sharing, serials, and systems administration. 11. Supervise the development, maintenance, and implementation of all learning resource-related policies and procedures. 12. Develop collaborative relationships within the profession, the College, and the community. 13. Collaborate with the Director of Sponsored Programs to ensure compliance with existing grants, assist in submission of grant application materials, and identify additional external funding sources to support the growth of programs as they relate to the College’s mission. 14. Coordinate and collaborate with the College’s Accreditation Liaison to ensure compliance with accreditation principles and standards; including, but not limited to, Library and Learning/Information Resources standards. 15. Lead the Learning Resources Center’s efforts, activities, and responsibilities with regards to accreditation and reaffirmation at the direction of the Vice President, Academic Affairs. 16. Participate in staff and committee work. 17. Attend trainings, events, meetings, and conferences, as required. 18. Assists in all College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate. 19. Attend College-wide academic and staff meetings, as well as other official functions. 20. Required to attend Graduation/Commencement ceremonies. 21. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution, required.
  • Five (5) years professional library experience.
  • Two (2) years administrative/managerial experience.

  • None.
Physical Skills:
  • Ability to place materials on six foot shelves.
  • Walk, bend, stoop and reach materials.
  • Push loaded book truck.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for long periods of time

  • Works inside in an office environment.
