To accomplish this goal the Sanctuary has a twofold mission of wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education .

Rehabilitation:

We rescue sick, injured, and orphaned native Florida wildlife. After rehab, our goal is to release our healthy animals back into the wild.

Education:

90% of the patients admitted each year to the Sanctuary’s wildlife rehabilitation center have suffered from some type of human-related injury. Collisions with automobiles, fishing line entanglement, illegal gunshots, poisonings, and electrocutions, are only a small example of the types of injuries that are regularly treated and why education of the public is so important. JOB SUMMARY

The Advancement Associate plays a vital role in supporting the Advancement Department at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary (BWS). This position assists in raising awareness of BWS through strategic fundraising initiatives, marketing efforts, and the successful execution of various events, both on-campus and off-site. Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO), the Advancement Associate also works with the Director of Marketing and Community Relations and Marketing Coordinator to ensure seamless coordination and promotion of BWS initiatives that engage stakeholders and enhance the organization’s presence. Duties and Responsibilities Fundraising and Donor Relations

  • Assist with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts
  • Assist with the execution of fundraising campaigns including annual appeals, online giving initiatives, and special events
  • Cultivate relationships with members and donors to encourage ongoing support and increased engagement
  • Collaborate with the advancement team to identify prospective donors and create customized engagement plans Membership Program
  • Under the guidance of the CPO, coordinate a membership program and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and retain members
  • Coordinate member communication, including newsletters, renewal notices, and special updates
  • Manage and maintain accurate member records in the donor database.
  • Assist with planning and executing membership drives and campaigns to increase member participation.
  • Meet regularly with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and provide written evaluation/status/tracking reports to regarding stewardship, prospecting, proposals, and appeals
  • Assist with organizing and executing membership events (both virtual and in-person) for members and donors such as appreciation gatherings, informational meetings, and fundraising events
  • Coordinate membership event logistics, including invitations, registration, vendor coordination, and day-of-event support
  • Track and report on membership event success metrics, including attendance, funds raised, and post-event feedback Honorary Adopt an Animal Program
  • Coordinate the Adoption fundraising program and implement strategies to engage donors
  • Oversee inventory of adoption supplies and maintenance of stock to fulfill orders
  • Track and report on adoption success metrics, including fulfillments, funds raised, and donor feedback
  • Supervise the fulfillment of adoptions by gift shop staff and administrative assistant Outreach and Communications
  • Work with the marketing team to create promotional materials for membership, adoption, and fundraising activities
  • Assist with crafting social media and digital marketing efforts to increase visibility and engagement for the membership & adoption programs
  • Assist with development of content for donor newsletters, annual reports, and other outreach materials Data Management and Reporting
  • Use CRM or donor management software to maintain accurate and up-to-date records
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on membership statistics, fundraising performance, and event results
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data to improve membership and fundraising outcomes Other
  • Attend public and professional events, workshops, and other opportunities to foster connections to bolster support for BWS
  • Assist with special projects as directed by the CPO and Chief Executive Officer
  • Attend weekly Marketing meetings and note status of initiatives, metrics, and other information pertinent to each member of the team and draft overall report for the CPO and provide updates
  • Duties as assigned Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development or membership
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to engage and motivate members and donors
  • Proven experience in event planning, fundraising, and donor relationship management
  • Proficiency with CRM or donor management software (e.g., Network for Good, Raiser’s Edge) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, grant writing, and nonprofit finance
  • Experience with membership programs
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.
