Job Description
Education Registrar 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars Sanford, FL 32771 The Education Registrar is responsible for scheduling and promoting a portion of the Education Department’s programs, including but not limited to: curriculum-based programs, homeschool classes, scout programs, school break programs, overnight programs, Create Your Own ZOOventure programs, preschool programs, workshops, and Education special events. Strong organizational, computer, and customer service skills are required. This position reports to the Education Manager. In the Manager’s absence, the Registrar will report to the Director of Education. Additional guidance is received through established policies and procedures, plus verbal and written communications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Maintains an organized calendar of Zoo Teacher instructed programs, and overnight programs.
- Schedules curriculum-based programs, homeschool classes, scout programs, school break programs, overnight programs, Create-your-own-ZOOventure programs, preschool programs, workshops, and Education special events.
- Strong organizational, computer, and customer service skills are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Experience with Galaxy ticketing preferred but not required.
- Assisting customers with program selection, questions, and registration.
- Communicate registration counts for upcoming events to the Education Manager, Education Director, and marketing team.
- Process Education Department registrations and payments.
- Responsible for confirmation emails, release forms, and participation in monthly meetings with SSA to review processes and give updates.
- Responsible for recording program stats, i.e., input attendance information into Excel computer file.
- Assists the Education Manager with the development of collateral material for program registrations and promotions. This includes developing and sending e-blasts to promote education programs. Assisting with proofreading all educational materials and brochures.
- Participation in promotional opportunities for Education programs includes, but isn’t limited to, attending summer camp expos, and information tables at zoo events, such as Hippity Hop.
- Stocking resource holders at the zoo with education materials, including the Discovery Center, Log Cabin, Gift Shop, and main Admissions.
- Review the Zoo’s website, online webstore, and event page information to ensure accuracy of upcoming education events.
- Organize check-in systems for onsite programs. Prepare education programs and camp materials such as nametags, waivers, etc.
- Collaborate with the Group Programs & Outreach Coordinator to answer or field incoming calls. Answer all “cold” call questions and send out appropriate requested materials (e.g., class registration forms, brochures, etc.).
- Responsible for checking in groups, taking payments, and directing them to their program locations.
- Able to perform all duties required of the position and work productively with little supervision.
- Greet and direct guests at monthly Storytime programs. Meet storytellers and direct them to program location.
- Assist with other programs in the Education Department, as needed.
- Participate in spring and summer camp training to teach Zoo Teachers check-in procedures.
- Work as a member of a large, diverse team.
- Develop and nurture professional relationships with all Zoo staff.
- Adheres to all Central Florida Zoo policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, evenings and Zoo special events. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- A college degree, degree seeking, or equivalent professional experience is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills required. Experience with registration processes preferred. Background in teaching and/or biology is a plus.
