Salary Range:
$75,000•$122,896.23 This position reports to the Director of Academics. Cirrus Academy Charter School’s mission is to develop and implement a comprehensive educational program that prepares students to meet and exceed world class standards and prepare them to compete in the global marketplace. Cirrus Academy, a K•8 charter school in Macon, GA, has been on its flight to excellence since 2016. This STEM focused school is under the leadership of Mr. Barry Williams, Head of Schools. By integrating the responsibilities of an Academic Dean with the principles of MTSS, schools can create a supportive environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Role of an Academic Dean (Grades 3-5)
Curriculum Leadership :
Oversee the implementation of curriculum and instructional strategies for grades 3-5. Collaborate with teachers to enhance lesson plans and ensure alignment with state standards.
Teacher Support and Development :
Provide professional development opportunities for teachers. Offer coaching and mentoring to improve instructional practices.
Data Analysis :
Use student performance data to identify trends and areas needing improvement. Help teachers analyze data to inform instruction and make adjustments as necessary.
Family and Community Engagement :
Foster communication between the school and families. Organize events that promote parental involvement and community support.
Administrative Duties :
Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for the grades 3-5 team. Ensure compliance with educational policies and regulations. Connection to
MTSS Understanding MTSS :
MTSS is a framework that provides support to all students through a tiered system of interventions. It aims to address academic and behavioral challenges through targeted support.
Implementation :
The Academic Dean plays a critical role in implementing MTSS by ensuring that teachers understand the tiers of support. They help in establishing processes for identifying students in need of additional support.
Collaboration :
Work closely with intervention specialists, counselors, and teachers to coordinate support for students. Facilitate team meetings to discuss student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
Monitoring and Evaluation :
Help develop systems for tracking student progress within the MTSS framework. Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of interventions and make informed decisions about instruction.
Professional Development :
Provide training for teachers on MTSS practices, including how to implement interventions and progress monitor effectively.
Education, Training, and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university required. Prior coaching experience is preferred. 2. Minimum of three (3) years classroom teaching or closely related experience is required.
Preferred:
1. Georgia certification in Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies or Elementary Education.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Support teacher growth in implementing the curricula and instructional initiatives to enable achievement for all students through regular classroom observations and teacher feedback sessions. 2. Provide collaborative support to teachers through problem solving, modeling lessons, scheduling opportunities for peer observations, and conducting mini-training sessions. 3. Provide assistance in blending content knowledge and knowledge of differentiated instruction for all teachers. Support teachers by sharing materials and strategies to meet the needs of all students. 4. Develop and prioritize intervention goals, based upon data dis-aggregation process to generate solutions. 5. Track student achievement data, maintain and organize student achievement data in an effort to make timely and appropriate decisions about curriculum assessments and instruction 6. Facilitate and organize the quarterly assessment process as well as the regrouping of students and determination of tutoring needs based on students’ mastery. 7. Collaborate with school leaders and meets regularly with the leadership team to design, implement, align, and assess school change initiatives to ensure alignment and focus on intended results to improve student growth and achievement. 8. Monitor student achievement to ensure that every child is making adequate progress. 9. Communicates all student progress with parents, staff, other school leaders, and district. 10.
