The Education Coordinator will develop, select, and modify the appropriate educational pathways, such as online K-12 school or GED classes and ensure enrollment and progress throughout the term of enrollment. The Education Coordinator will maintain regular and positive communication with the education entity and maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with program policies and procedures. The Education Coordinator will monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. In addition, this role is a vital part of the Tharros Place membership team, working together to help establish and ensure protocol and standards of Room Board and Watchful Oversight of are met. This role also assists in the supervision of participants during instructional hours, monitors, records, and evaluates student academic achievement and rotates weekends being on call. Duties Develop and implement a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of participants to ensure academic success. Ensure education pathway is aligned to the Georgia Standards. Provide a culturally responsive instructional program to meet the needs of all participants including participants with disabilities. Assess the learning and behavioral needs of participants on a regular basis and maintain records for report cards and/or caregiver conferences. Provide input as needed for IEPs of Students with Disabilities ensuring the implementation of modifications including co-teaching as needed. Create a classroom environment that provides participants involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives. Take all necessary and safety precautions to protect participants, equipment, materials and facilities. Expand participant goals with various educational and career opportunities through college tours, career and motivational conferences and speakers. Develop and update a course syllabus for caregivers and participants that includes: list of Georgia Standards being taught in the course, a course calendar with instructional units, assessments, and major projects, grading protocol, tutoring hours, and list of all curriculum resources being used in the classroom. Communicate regularly with Human Service Professional and DFCS Case Manager to report on student academic progress. Arrive at work on time, ready for classes and duties. Respond to emergency weekend calls to ensure protocol and standards are met. Participate in professional learning to increase skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities. Utilize technology effectively to plan, teach, and assess. Participate in weekly meetings with Residential Director and all other meetings where attendance is required. Other duties as determined. Adapt instructional materials and strategies to accommodate the wide range of skills which exist in a classroom. Apply fair and consistent standards to all participants.
