Clark Atlanta University (CAU) invites applications andnominations for the position of Dean of Graduate Education.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs,the Dean of Graduate Education provides strategic leadership andadministrative direction for Graduate Education at the University.
The Dean is responsible for the implementation and compliance ofpolicy concerning graduate academic services within the University.
The Dean will assist academic program advisors, coordinators,department chairs, school deans, and other stakeholders in thedevelopment of strategies to increase graduate enrollment. The Deanwill direct, evaluate, and develop relevant and rigorous graduateacademic programming to ensure that graduate education is wellsupported.
Clark Atlanta University is a private, coeducational,historically Black, four-year university located in Atlanta, GA. Itis designated by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement ofTeaching as a “Doctoral University – High Research Activity.” TheUniversity’s students are engaged in 38 areas of study in fourschools: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, andthe Whitney M. Young, Jr., School of Social Work. Clark AtlantaUniversity is accredited by the Southern Association of Collegesand Schools Commission on Colleges to offer bachelor’s, master’s,specialist, and doctoral degrees.
The Dean of Graduate Education, incollaboration with the school deans and department chairs, shalladvise and consult with the Provost and Vice President for AcademicAffairs on matters of graduate academic programming, policydecisions, program development, funding, and administration ofgraduate education. The Dean will ensure the general well-being ofgraduate students with respect to their graduate standing, AcademicStandards and Requirements, and assist in the assignment ofgraduate research fellowships and teaching assistantships. The Deanwill ensure that new policies and graduate programs areappropriately approved by entities described in the CAU GraduateHandbook.
Key QualificationsKey qualifications for the positioninclude but are not limited to: familiarity with graduate educationbest practices; knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting, andresource allocation; a track record of developing and implementinggraduate academic programs; proven ability to lead an academicunit; experience in making data-driven decisions in graduateeducation; excellent communication skills; impeccable integrity;and an earned doctorate and eligibility to be appointed in anappropriate academic department with tenure.
