The Georgia Department of Education - School Improvement Division is recruiting for an Education Program Manager for the South Region of Georgia.
Under the direction of the division director, the Program Manager for the South Region of Georgia will provide specific coaching and support to school and district leaders focused on school improvement efforts. Duties include but are not limited to: Provide overall leadership to and collaborate with Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) staff and other agencies external to provide systems and schools guidance and training for school improvement
Manage and supervise professional staff
Ensure effective collaboration with Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs) and GaDOE staff and programs, particularly the GaDOE regional support teams and school improvement specialists
Develop both immediate and long-range strategic plans for professional learning activities
Provide leadership and coordination for the following school improvement activities: coordinating development, design and implementation of teacher and leader training; coordinate state training for system and school instructional leaders, identify and collaborate with exemplary educators to assist with training, coordinating and provide all trainers with content knowledge and skills for delivery of professional learning
Develop, support, and evaluate state school effectiveness specialists working with federally identified comprehensive support and improvement schools
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, have experience in the following: Doctoral Degree
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory/administrative or teacher-leader role in professional learning/staff development at a school, system, or state level
L-5 certification (submit a copy of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional educator certification)
Must have school-level turnaround leadership experience
Must have principal experience
Must have knowledge of performance standards and instructional design
Must be self-directed and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Must have working knowledge of current research on school improvement and professional learning initiatives/programs
Experience with K-12 school improvement programs
Experience with program monitoring, data collection, reporting, and facilitating the necessary technical assistance to ensure not only compliance, but quality programs for students
Strong knowledge of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
Experience implementing comprehensive school reform programs or initiatives
Experience conducting program evaluations
Five or more years
- experience in a building-level or system-level leadership role
Successful experience with designing, planning, developing, and conducting professional learning programs that are job - embedded and focused on impacting student achievement
Experience with training and supporting professional staff as well as training module development
