April 09, 2025 The University Registrar at Southern University and A&M College serves as the chief student records officer of the institution. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of academic records and registration systems. The Registrar oversees the administration of the Ellucian Banner 9 system for student information, facilitates efficient registration and graduation processes, ensures compliance with university and external academic regulations, and supports institutional effectiveness through data management and reporting. The University Registrar is a critical member of the academic leadership team and collaborates with faculty, academic departments, and administrative units to enhance the student experience and uphold academic policies and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and leadership of Registrar Office operations
Oversight of academic records and data integrity (Banner SIS)
Management of registration processes and academic calendar coordination
Degree audit, graduation certification, and commencement coordination
Curriculum and catalog management; coordination with academic units
Regulatory compliance (FERPA, IPEDS, SACSCOC, VA, NCAA) and data reporting
Technology management, Banner upgrades, and process optimization
Student services, transcript issuance, and enrollment verification
Institutional collaboration, service on university committees
Other duties as assigned
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree:
A minimum of five (5) years in higher education administration in a relevant field (e.g., higher education administration, educational leadership, information systems, or a related field). At least 3 years of progressive supervisory experience in a Registrar’s Office or related student records environment; proficiency with the Ellucian Banner system
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral Degree:
Seven (7+) or more years in higher education, including at least 5 years in a registrar or enrollment management leadership role (e.g., higher education administration, educational leadership, or a related field). Experience leading strategic initiatives, system upgrades, and staff development in a registrar context; familiarity with the Louisiana Board of Regents and HBCU student success strategies
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

FERPA certification or training (required upon hire); active membership in AACRAO or related professional organization preferred
LOUISIANA NOTARY
Any resident citizen or alien of the state, 18 years of age or older, may be appointed a notary public in and for the parish in which they reside provided that they meet the requirements established by Louisiana R.S.35:191.
