This position extends aid offers and financial aid counseling for in-person and online students, primarily in the School of Professional Advancement. This position assists management with policy development, data analysis, and implementation for identified student populations. The Assistant Director researches, maintains, and disseminates information on university, state, and federal regulations. This position represents the office as necessary. This position counsels prospective and enrolled students on financial aid matters including the understanding of the cost of attendance and available options for bill payment. The Assistant Director is a primary point of contact for students and families seeking assistance with options to finance educational expenses to attend a post-secondary institution of higher education. This position provides dedicated assistance to students attending Tulane’s School of Professional Advancement. This position provides regular status updates to the University Financial Aid Office management team. The Assistant Director provides regular status updates to the appropriate leaders at the Tulane School of Professional Advancement. This position processes non-federal, private, alternative loans. This position serves as a vital member of the Financial Aid Office’s technology team. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong organizational and analytical skills and excellent attention to detail are necessary. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Superior interpersonal skills and thorough personal computer knowledge. Strong customer service orientation and ability to impart those skills to members of the staff. Ability to be flexible to handle a variety of duties and projects throughout the year, as the demands of a Financial Aid Office are cyclical in nature. Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, parents, faculty, academic deans and administrators, guidance counselors, alumni, government representatives, banks, loan servicing agencies, and loan guarantee agencies. Thorough understanding of federal Title IV aid regulations.

NCAA Related:

Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Required Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience in financial aid operations. OR High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 8 years of experience in financial aid operations. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Ellucian’s Banner student information system.
