The Director of Residential Education is a full-time, 12-month exempt position under administrative direction from the Associate Dean of Students. The Director of Residential Education offers visionary guidance and leadership for the Office of Residential Education and ensures the safety and quality of residential facilities. AA/EOE Minimum Qualifications A Master’s degree in higher education administration, student personnel, counseling, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Three years of supervisory experience along with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in residence life is also required for the position. Exceptional supervisory and communication skills required. The ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, staff and administrators is needed to do the job successfully. Preferred Qualifications A Master’s degree in higher education administration, student personnel, counseling, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Five years of supervisory experience along with a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in residence life . Special Requirements Summary Work Hours Full time Occasional weekend hours and hours beyond 5pm needed to accommodate University needs and high peak times. Position also serves in a central office on call rotation schedule to support GA staff during crisis situations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Description Manages the University’s housing and residence life operations in the Division of Student Affairs; supervises professional and support staff, ensuring efficient operations and programming, and ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards, and laws. Evaluates and assesses University housing occupancy, retention, and projection trends; oversees the residential facilities to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy living environment; confirms that all room assignments and billings are completed and communicated to students. Works collaboratively with the Associate Director of Residential Education to create engaging, living and learning communities. Ensures the security and safety of students; responsible for crisis and risk management. Handles communications with students and families regarding facilities requests and intervention strategies. Represents the department as needed and establishes a collaborative relationship with other University departments. As needed, serves as a judicial officer for residence life, conduct hearings and investigation. Works collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Residential Operations to coordinate housing assignments, roommate matches, and move processes Compile and assess housing data and occupancy rates; manage and distribute housing reports. Serve as a Housing and Residential Life representative in the process for medical accommodations. Serve in the Central Office staff on-call rotation Supervise the Associate Director of Residential Education & Assistant Director of Residential Operations. Indirectly supervise the Hall Advisors, Graduate Assistant Hall Directors, & Resident Assistants Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
